What TypingKit keeps

TypingKit is made by ObjectGraph LLC. This page says what the site keeps, where, and how to delete it.

Without an account

Your attempts (speed, accuracy, and the keys you pressed with their timing, which is what replays and the ghost of your best run are made from) and the profile of your typing (how long each move between two keys takes you), and your place in each book you type (how far each chapter has come, and the words, speed and accuracy of each sitting), are kept in this browser only, in its local storage. Nothing of it is sent to us. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes it.

With an account

If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your email address and name from them, and keep your attempts, your typing profile, your places in books and lessons already in your account, so they follow you to other devices. The account lives in Supabase, on servers in the United States (AWS, US East). We use it only to show you your own progress: we do not sell it, show ads, or share it with anyone. Lessons you mark public can be read by anyone; everything else is yours alone.

Your own texts

Passages added on Your texts, including their titles and replays, stay in this browser even when you sign in. They are never published or uploaded. Practice totals and your typing profile can still sync with your account. Remove a passage from Your texts to delete its local copy and replays, or clear the site’s browser data to remove them all. Deleting your account does not delete these local texts.

Back up texts saves a file containing your own passages and their saved attempts and replays. Restoring that file reads it in your browser without uploading it. Deleting a passage or clearing browser data does not remove backup files you have downloaded.

Deleting your account

Open the account menu (your initial, top right) and choose Delete my account. It removes your account, every attempt, your typing profile, your places in books and your lessons, including anything from the 2022 version of TypingKit, at once and for good. You can also write to us and we will do it for you.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits, completed runs and sittings with a book (length, speed and accuracy, and which book and chapter, never the text you typed), so we can see which pages help people. Advertising features are off, and no account or name is attached.
